Missouri GOP Candidate Indicted for Plot to Plant Drugs
Federal prosecutors indicted Thomas Christopher Ross, the Republican nominee for Missouri's 161st House district, on a charge of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance after he allegedly tried to plant cocaine and Adderall in opponent Louise Secker's vehicle, officials said on 4 September. Prosecutors said Ross had directed his former campaign manager to place the drugs in Secker's car, a scheme uncovered in a federal affidavit. Ross, who won the Republican primary in Joplin on 2 September, now faces federal charges.
