Maria Bartiromo's attorney denies she was fired by Fox News

Summary

Maria Bartiromo's lawyer said reports that she was terminated by Fox News are false, after the network announced she had left the company.

Maria Bartiromo's attorney, Bryan Freedman, said on Friday that the Fox News and Fox Business anchor was not fired after more than a dozen years at the network. He emphasized that reports claiming she was dismissed are "absolutely and unequivocally false" and that evidence will be presented in court or otherwise.

Fox announced on Thursday that it had "parted ways" with Bartiromo, ending her daily show on Fox Business. The network's press release provided no further details, and the program continued to air with the same titles and graphics but without her name. A Fox News Media spokesperson said the statement itself explains the situation.

Earlier reports from industry newsletters and other outlets suggested Bartiromo was terminated after sharing internal Fox communications with the White House regarding President Donald Trump's election claims. Those reports have not been verified by NBC News.

Bartiromo, who joined Fox in 2014 after a 21-year tenure at CNBC, hosted several top-rated programs on the Fox channels, including "Mornings with Maria" and "Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street." She also served on the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a position listed on the center's website as of Friday.
