Three killed in Minneapolis downtown shooting during custody exchange
Police said a 35-year-old man opened fire during a custody exchange at Shoreline Plaza in downtown Minneapolis on 2 September, killing three residents and wounding several others before being killed in a shootout with officers. The incident also left multiple police officers injured. Initial reports from CBS News described one dead and six injured, including two officers.
Later coverage by Fox News and FOX 9 indicated three civilian deaths and three injured officers, while The Guardian and 5 EYEWITNESS reported two deaths and the suspect dead. Court records obtained by CBS News later showed the shooter, who had been facing eviction after prior assaults and firearm displays, died by self-inflicted gunshot after the attack.
