Zelensky orders probe after Kyiv shootout injures three intelligence officers
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered a criminal investigation and personnel changes after a shootout on 2 September in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district left three SBU and HUR officers wounded. The incident occurred on Yuriya Shums’koho street while the agencies were probing a suspected Russian plot targeting an opposition figure.
The Security Service of Ukraine said its agents opened fire after being attacked, detaining several defence-intelligence personnel and seizing weapons and documents. A criminal probe was launched and parliamentary committees began scrutiny of the long-standing rivalry between the two services.
