Tiger Woods pleads no contest to reckless driving, receives five-year license suspension

Tiger Woods entered a no-contest plea to a reckless-driving charge in Florida and was ordered to have his driver’s license suspended for five years.

Tiger Woods pleaded no contest to a reckless-driving charge in Martin County, Florida, after a rollover crash near his Jupiter Island residence in March. The court reduced the original DUI allegation to reckless driving, and a judge sentenced Woods to a five-year suspension of his driver’s license. He also entered a no-contest plea to refusing a drug test and was ordered to pay court costs.

Woods, 50, appeared with his girlfriend Vanessa Trump, former daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, and left the courtroom without speaking to reporters. The crash occurred when his SUV clipped a truck on a beachside road, rolled onto its side, and caused about $5,000 in damage to the other vehicle. Deputies reported finding two pain pills in Woods’s pocket and noted signs of impairment; a breathalyzer test was negative, and Woods declined a urine test. He told a deputy he was looking at his phone and changing the radio station at the time of the collision.

The no-contest plea, while not an admission of guilt, is treated as a conviction under Florida law. Woods has not returned to competitive golf since the incident and previously sought treatment at an inpatient facility. He made a brief public appearance on June 23 to introduce PGA Tour schedule changes, maintaining his role as chairman of the tour’s Future Competition Committee.
