Summary

Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old vice president at Bank of America, was fatally stabbed in Times Square on Aug. 31, the same day she returned to work after maternity leave.

A 32-year-old Bank of America vice president was killed in a stabbing incident in Times Square on Aug. 31, the day she resumed work after five months of maternity leave. Police said the attack appeared random and unprovoked. The victim, Erin Piacenti, had just celebrated her second wedding anniversary and had recently returned from a family road trip with her husband, Frank, and their newborn daughter, Madison.

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the incident as apparently random. A 68-year-old man was also injured and is in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital. Police identified the suspect as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, who was armed with two large knives. Officers shot Cisneros after she advanced toward them; she later died at Bellevue Hospital. The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is reviewing the shooting.

Piacenti had been with Bank of America for about 18 months, serving as a vice president on the Business Selection and Conflicts team. The bank issued a statement expressing shock and sadness over the loss, calling her a valued teammate. A GoFundMe campaign, organized by family members, seeks to support Piacenti’s daughter and preserve memories of her mother. The family requested privacy following the tragedy.
