Yankees manager confirms ordering Chisholm to steal bases, accepts broadcaster's apology
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he directed Jazz Chisholm Jr. to steal second and third base during a late-inning rally against the Boston Red Sox and said he welcomed broadcaster Will Flemming’s apology for the “bush league” comment. Earlier in the game, Red Sox radio announcer Will Flemming urged pitcher Jovani Morán to throw at Yankees catcher Austin Wells and to confront second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr.
, calling the player “bush league” and suggesting retaliation. The remarks drew condemnation from former Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and current pitcher Cam Schlittler, and Chisholm brushed off the criticism after stealing two bases as the Yankees built a 7-1 lead.
