Death toll climbs to 38 after Russian drone strike near Kyiv
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the death toll from a Russian drone strike on a warehouse west of Kyiv had risen to 38, with four people still missing. The strike, which hit an ammunition warehouse in the Myla area near Kyiv, was first reported by CNN as killing at least 27 people and injuring dozens.
Later reports from Euronews and the Associated Press raised the death count to 37, noting many victims were residents of a local care home. President Zelensky subsequently announced criminal proceedings against officials over alleged negligence in storing explosives near residential buildings.
