NFL teams must cut rosters to 53 players by Aug. 30 deadline
All 32 NFL clubs are required to reduce their rosters to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET on Aug. 30, with several teams already announcing cuts as the preseason concludes.
All 32 NFL clubs must finalize their rosters at 53 players by 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Aug. 30, the league announced as the preseason draws to a close. The deadline was moved to Sunday to accommodate the San Francisco 49ers' travel to Melbourne for their season-opening game on Sept. 10. The change gives the 49ers extra time, while the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans, whose final preseason game is on Saturday, will have less than 24 hours to complete their cuts.
Eight teams have already finished their exhibition games and can focus on roster reductions. The Cleveland Browns released eight players, including tight end Drew Biber and defensive end Jamil Muhammad. The Pittsburgh Steelers cut ten players, among them tight end Jaheim Bell and wide receiver Cornell Powell. Other teams listed as having cuts include the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Commanders, though specific names have not been released yet.
