Kinley Rasmus Sets LLWS Hitting Record, Ties Strikeout Mark
Kinley Rasmus of Phenix City, Alabama, became the first girl to set a Little League World Series record for most hits and to tie the tournament’s strikeout record as her team was eliminated in Williamsport on August 25. Earlier, Rasmus helped Phenix City advance with a 4-2 victory over Northwest, recording two hits that broke the previous girls’ hitting record. She also starred in a 4-2 win over Washington, contributing both as a pitcher and shortstop, and had already matched the hitting and strikeout marks that propelled the team into the elimination round.
