Actress Shelley Fabares Dies at 82 After Years of Health Struggles

सारांश

Shelley Fabares, known for roles on "One Day at a Time" and "The Donna Reed Show," died in Los Angeles at age 82 following complications from pneumonia.

Shelley Fabares died on Saturday in Los Angeles, surrounded by family, after battling pneumonia, her relatives said. The 82-year-old actress was best known for television roles such as Francine Webster on the 1970s sitcom "One Day at a Time," Mary Stone on "The Donna Reed Show," and later appearances on "Coach," as well as a 1960s hit single "Johnny Angel" and film work with Elvis Presley.

Fabares had a history of serious health issues. In the 1990s she was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, which led to severe liver damage. After nearly two years on a transplant waiting list, she underwent a liver transplant in the fall of 2000. In a 2011 interview with PBS Houston, she reflected on the experience, saying it highlighted the fragility of life and gave her a renewed perspective.

Her husband, actor Mike Farrell, issued a statement expressing condolences and requesting privacy for the family. "To her family and friends, Shelley was a source of love, strength, laughter, and comfort," he said. He noted that she is survived by him and their daughter, Erin.

Fabares' career spanned several decades, and her performances remain part of American television history.
