Apple announces 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro with dual Neural Engine
Apple announced on 25 August that it will launch a 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the new M6 processor, a dual 16-core Neural Engine and a 12-core CPU/GPU built on a three-tier core architecture and a 2 nm process, improving power efficiency. The M6 chip was first unveiled in early August on new Mac mini and Mac Studio models, which featured variable memory bandwidth, Thread support via an N1 chip and macOS Golden Gate preinstalled, according to 9to5Mac.
Apple later upgraded pending Mac mini orders to the M6 (and M5 Pro) models at no extra cost, as reported by MacRumors, and Amazon offered pre-order discounts for the 2026 Mac mini lineup ahead of its 22 September launch. Earlier in the month, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said Apple was developing an iMac powered by the M6 chip with refreshed color options, and a 24-inch iMac update was also expected.
