Hollywood producers' group condemns Mark Ruffalo’s remarks as antisemitic
The Brigade, a coalition of nearly 1,000 Hollywood producers, denounced actor Mark Ruffalo’s criticism of Paramount’s leadership as employing antisemitic tropes on 26 August in Los Angeles County. The condemnation follows a series of disputes that began on 20 August when Ruffalo accused the planned Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger of supporting Israel’s actions in Gaza; a Paramount spokesperson called the remarks antisemitic and urged a reduction in rhetoric.
The head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center later said Ruffalo’s comments crossed into antisemitic tropes, while the actor insisted his intent was not hateful. Additional Jewish organizations echoed the criticism, and fellow actors John Cusack and Hannah Einbinder publicly defended Ruffalo.
