Father Warned After Leaving 7-Year-Old Alone at Mount Fuji Hut
Police warned a 48-year-old man from Nagoya on August 24 after he left his seven-year-old son unattended at the sixth-station hut on Mount Fuji, noting that the child was found unharmed and that the father could face criminal liability. Authorities said the father’s actions endangered the child at the 8,200-foot altitude.
The incident began on August 20, when the father continued the ascent with his older child while the younger boy was left alone at the high-altitude station. Police later took the boy into protective custody and issued the reprimand, as reported by multiple outlets.
