Klay Thompson signs two-year deal with Miami Heat
Klay Thompson signed a two-year contract with a player option for the second year with the Miami Heat on 24 August, Yahoo Sports reported. The veteran guard turned down interest from the Los Angeles Lakers and will earn roughly $13 million over the two seasons. The signing followed a buyout agreement between the Dallas Mavericks and Thompson on 21 August, ending his two-year stint, AP News said.
The buyout reduced his 2026-27 salary by about $9. 8 million, Hoops Rumors detailed. Earlier reports from the New York Times and Fox News indicated that Thompson was expected to join the Heat after clearing waivers.
