Florida Governor Suspends Clerk Michael Caruso After Child Abuse Arrest
Governor Ron DeSantis suspended former Palm Beach County clerk Michael Caruso on August 19, 2026 after the clerk was arrested on multiple felony child sexual abuse charges. State law enforcement officials said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and local police took Caruso into custody on five felony child-sexual-abuse counts, and the Florida Attorney General announced the charges.
DeSantis acted immediately to remove Caruso from office. Earlier, a national business magazine reported that the former state representative and DeSantis appointee, identified as Michael Allen Carvo, faced kidnapping and child-molestation charges before being suspended.
