LIV Golf to cut most staff on August 27, 2026 amid funding loss
ESPN reported that LIV Golf announced it will cut most of its U. S. and U. K.
staff on August 27, 2026, as funding from the Saudi Public Investment Fund ends and the league eyes a possible 2027 relaunch. The New York Times and BBC reported that the league cancelled its Michigan team championship and will decide the title at the Indianapolis tournament. The New York Times also noted that the 2024 season was ended a week early, while CEO Scott O’Neil called for cooperation with other tours and met with a prospective investor. The PGA Tour said it has no plans to reinstate the Returning Member Program, and reduced purses and lawsuits followed the Saudi funding shortfall.
