Jurors View Keffe D's BET Interview in Tupac Murder Trial
Jurors in a Las Vegas courtroom watched excerpts of a BET documentary in which Duane “Keffe D” Davis recounts the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed rapper Tupac Shakur, a testimony prosecutors say breaches a prior agreement and bolsters the murder charge. The trial began earlier this month with opening statements and testimony that included the defendant’s 2018 interview. Prosecutors have presented autopsy photographs of Shakur and witness accounts linking Davis to the crime.
A former Death Row security associate testified about being present at the club where Shakur was shot but refused to name suspects, while a former LAPD detective explained that information from the 1997 Christopher Wallace murder investigation helped identify Davis as a suspect. Prosecutors have also highlighted Davis’s memoir and earlier police interviews that match details of the shooting.
