Tyson Foods shuts Utah plant and other facilities amid cattle shortage
Tyson Foods announced on 15 August that it will close its Eagle Mountain, Utah, beef and pork processing plant, affecting 723 workers, as part of a restructuring driven by a national cattle shortage, KUTV reported. The Utah shutdown follows earlier announcements that the company would close its Joslin, Illinois, meat-packing plant, eliminating roughly 2,500 union jobs, KWQC reported, and that it would seek to sell its Washington plant while consolidating operations, Fox Business said, decisions attributed to ongoing cattle supply constraints.
