Massachusetts teen arraigned on double murder charges after AI-generated fantasies
The Guardian reported that a 17-year-old from Concord, Massachusetts, was arraigned on two murder charges on 13 August after police said he used ChatGPT to search for fictional scenarios of killing his mother and brother. Police in Acton said they located the missing teen on 12 August, towed his sedan, confirmed the vehicle registration and stated there was no ongoing public safety threat (WCVB). Acton Police Chief Douglas Sturniolo confirmed the find, and Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan identified the suspect as Arjun Aravind (NBC Boston).
The district attorney later filed two murder counts (NBC News). The teen pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail pending a probable-cause hearing (CBS News).
