Joe Rogan doubts Makhachev's ability against larger welterweights after UFC 330
Podcast host Joe Rogan said on August 17 that Islam Makhachev's first welterweight title defense at UFC 330 raised doubts about his ability to handle larger opponents as he moves up to the 170-pound division. According to MMA Fighting, the UFC announced a double-title card for UFC 330, initially reported for Las Vegas and later confirmed for Philadelphia on August 13.
MMA Fighting also reported that Makhachev and challenger Ian Machado Garry both made the 170-pound limit, as did Mackenzie Dern and Gillian Robertson for the strawweight championship. CBS Sports noted that in Philadelphia Makhachev defeated Garry by unanimous decision, extending his winning streak to 17 and tying a record for title defenses in two weight classes.
