Peggy Flanagan Wins Democratic Senate Primary, Set to Face Michele Tafoya
Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan defeated U. S. Rep. Angie Craig in the Minnesota Democratic primary for the U. S. Senate, securing the party’s nomination to face Republican nominee Michele Tafoya in the November general election, AP News reported.
Tafoya, a former sportscaster, had earlier won the Republican primary, FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul said. The contests are part of the June 2026 primary for the open Senate seat left vacant by Sen. Tina Smith, as noted by The New York Times. The Democratic race featured a split over the 2025 immigration enforcement bill, according to earlier AP coverage.
