Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan Sign Mutual Defence Pact
Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed a mutual-defence pact in Mecca on 7 August, and on 12 August analysts said the agreement could reshape regional security dynamics and U. S. influence in the Middle East.
The pact obliges each party to treat an armed attack on any member as an attack on all. After the signing, Pakistan's defence minister called for a unified Muslim military front against Israel, while Turkey's foreign minister stressed the agreement was not aimed at any specific country, including Iran. Analysts also noted that the deal adds uncertainty to India's security calculations.
