Ukraine launches massive drone raid on Moscow, killing seven
Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale drone assault on Moscow on 16 August, killing at least seven people, BBC reported. The attack came after a wave of Ukrainian drone operations that hit Russian energy infrastructure and strategic sites. In early August, Ukraine said drones struck the Bashneft-Novoil and Slavneft-Yanos refineries in Bashkortostan, aiming to cut oil revenues, CNBC reported.
Subsequent strikes hit an oil refinery in Tatarstan, causing a fire and a temporary blackout in Simferopol, The Kyiv Independent reported, and a drone attack on the S-400 missile launch site near President Vladimir Putin’s Black Sea residence ignited a multi-hour fire, The Daily Beast reported. Ukrainian drones also damaged two grain export terminals and naval vessels in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, killing three and injuring 24, multiple sources said. On 10 August, a drone raid on the city of Nizhnekamsk in Tatarstan killed 13 people, including a child, and wounded dozens, CNN reported.
