LIV Golf CEO says new investor will keep league afloat
LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil said on August sixth that a new lead investor will keep the circuit operating beyond 2026 despite recent tournament cancellations. The announcement follows a series of steps after the Saudi Public Investment Fund said it would end its multibillion-dollar support after 2026. On August fourth, LIV Golf executives and players met at Trump National Bedminster to discuss the league’s outlook (Yahoo Sports).
The following day the tour disclosed that it had secured financing from an undisclosed investor, targeting $250-300 million to sustain operations (ESPN). A BBC report later confirmed that the same investor would fund the 2027 season.
