Spokane arson suspect’s bond raised to $2 million as court hears planning
According to the BBC, a Spokane judge raised Aaron F. Farinacci’s bond to $2 million on 7 August after the suspect told investigators he deliberately selected a hot, dry, windy day to ignite the Old Trails Fire.
Farinacci, 37, had been arrested on 3 August on a first-degree arson warrant for the blaze that destroyed more than 800 structures and forced tens of thousands to evacuate, authorities said. Prosecutors later added charges linking him to 25 additional fires near Riverside State Park and noted that he had researched weather conditions and built a delay device before setting the fire, as reported by AP and local outlets.
