Co-op adventure 'Big Walk' launches August 4 for Switch, PS5 and PC
House House's new multiplayer title Big Walk, a puzzle-solving island adventure for up to 12 players, releases on August 4 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Steam.
House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game, is set to release its next title, Big Walk, on August 4 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Steam. The game places up to twelve players on a large, open-world island where they control simple spherical characters tasked with collecting red objects called “nubbins.”
Unlike many adventure games, Big Walk provides no explicit map or directional cues. Players must rely on proximity voice or text chat to coordinate movement and solve puzzles that can scale for two to four participants, with larger groups sharing the same space. The environment features varied terrain, hidden landmarks and structures that require teamwork, such as arranging tiles from opposite sides of a wall.
The design emphasizes communication, as characters have a limited set of actions—pointing, jumping and holding items—forcing players to devise creative ways to convey information. Nighttime adds a visibility challenge, requiring lanterns and group cohesion. The game does not include a traditional tutorial, instead encouraging discovery through exploration.
Reviewers note that the experience can become repetitive due to extensive walking and the need for at least one other player to progress, which may limit spontaneous solo play. However, the collaborative nature of the puzzles and the shared sense of discovery have been highlighted as strengths, drawing comparisons to the exploration elements of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Big Walk aims to blend simple controls with cooperative problem-solving, offering a modest but distinctive multiplayer adventure for families and friends.
