The New York Yankees completed a trade for right-handed hitter Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants hours before the trade deadline, sending two prospects to San Francisco.

The Yankees added right-handed outfielder Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants just before the 6 p.m. ET trade deadline, sending left-handed pitcher Henry Lalane and infielder Kaeden Kent to the Giants. Ramos, 26, said he was proud to join the organization and looked forward to playing with teammates such as Aaron Judge.

"If they traded for me, it’s because they want me, obviously," Ramos told reporters at Globe Life Field.

General manager Brian Cashman explained that the move was intended to bolster an offense hampered by injuries to Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton. He added that Ramos, who hits well against left-handed pitching, complements the recent acquisition of left-handed hitter Luis García Jr.

"One of our first areas of need was to try to upgrade the offense in any way, shape or form while waiting for important players to come back off the IL," Cashman said.

Ramos posted a .264/.304/.424 slash line with nine home runs and 34 RBIs in 74 games for the Giants this season. He was an All-Star in 2024 and will be arbitration-eligible after the season. The Yankees also moved reliever Camilo Doval to the Pittsburgh Pirates for two prospects and continue to explore options to address catching and pitching depth.
