Senate stalls Protect College Sports Act as amendments spark opposition
The U. S. Senate stalled the Protect College Sports Act on 8 August after lawmakers added amendments and encountered criticism from both parties, Yahoo Sports reported.
Earlier, Yahoo Sports noted that the Senate had postponed consideration of the bill until after the August recess, pushing a vote to September. USA Today said the 171-page final draft, covering coaching transitions, transfer rules, agent registration, revenue sharing, broadcast rights and HBCU sports infrastructure support, had been sent to senators. Prior to that, the SEC and Big Ten presidents and chancellors voted to back the legislation, adding stricter revenue-share caps and NIL certification requirements, as reported by Yahoo Sports UK, CBS Sports and NBC Sports.
