Slipknot member Sid Wilson reportedly dismissed from band
TMZ reports that Slipknot percussionist Sid Wilson was informed on Friday that he has been permanently removed from the group, while guitarist Jim Root cautioned against drawing conclusions before more information is available.
A source familiar with the matter told TMZ that Slipknot percussionist Sid Wilson was notified on Friday afternoon that he has been permanently removed from the band. Neither the band nor Wilson has issued a public statement confirming or denying the report. Guitarist Jim Root posted an Instagram story urging fans to "Don't believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there's more information."
Slipknot was formed in Des Moines in 1995 by Shawn "Clown" Crahan, Paul Gray and Anders Colsefni. After Colsefni left following the 1996 debut album, Corey Taylor joined as lead vocalist in 1997. The group signed a record deal in 1998 and released its first studio album in 1999, launching its rise to fame. Wilson, who joined in 1997 and is identified as "#0," is considered one of the nine original members. If his departure is confirmed, five of the band's current eight members would be from Iowa.
