Deebo Samuel returns to 49ers, joins practice in good shape amid injury woes
The New York Times reported that wide receiver Deebo Samuel took part in his first San Francisco 49ers practice on 1 August, appearing in good condition, as the team continued to cope with a spate of injuries, particularly on the defensive line. He re-signed with the 49ers on a one-year deal on 31 July, the team announced, The New York Times reported. The contract was said by SFGATE to be worth up to $7 million.
NBC Sports noted that the club planned to use Samuel as a receiver, running back and kickoff returner. Niners Nation added that his presence could make the 49ers the fourth Super Bowl-era team to start five veteran skill players aged 30 or older in a game.
