Sen. Jim Banks Calls for Rep. Max Miller to Quit Amid Abuse Claims
Sen. Jim Banks said Rep. Max Miller should drop his re-election campaign and resign from Congress if the domestic-violence accusations against him are verified. Republican Rep. Max Miller has been under fire since his ex-wife and former girlfriend accused him of abuse, prompting calls for his resignation from Ohio voters and fellow lawmakers (The Guardian). A judge was asked to issue a restraining order after Miller allegedly grabbed an attorney’s bag in a hallway, CNN reported.
Miller denied the allegations, saying earlier investigations found no evidence, Fox News said. Senator Bernie Moreno called Miller unfit for office and urged him to seek psychological help (CNBC). Republican allies pressed President Donald Trump to ask Miller to quit the race, the New York Post reported, and Trump later discussed the matter with Miller, CBS noted. White House officials also privately urged Miller to withdraw, CBS added. In August, Miller requested a House Ethics Committee review of the abuse claims, NBC reported.
