Google pulls Nano Banana AI image generator from Earth after misuse concerns

On 7 August, Google announced that it had temporarily disabled the Nano Banana AI image generator in Google Earth after users produced misleading satellite images, and said the feature would be reinstated once stronger safeguards are in place. The tool had been added to Google Earth on 28 July, enabling users to create synthetic satellite visualizations of historic sites, real-estate concepts and custom infographics; experts warned that such capability could be misused and erode trust in satellite data. After reports of deceptive images, Google moved to suspend the feature.
