First Hearing Conducted in Revived Alien Terrorist Removal Court
Nazira Haji Zada, a Texas permanent-resident, appeared before the Alien Terrorist Removal Court in Washington, D. C. , on July 30, 2026, in the tribunal’s first hearing since it was created in 1996, NBC News reported.
The Justice Department had earlier asked the revived court to order Zada’s deportation, describing her as an Afghan mother linked to an ISIS-inspired plot and setting a status hearing for that, CNN said. AP noted that she is the first individual slated for removal through the long-inactive court.
