Judge Rejects xAI's Injunction, Minnesota Nudification Ban Takes Effect
According to Gizmodo, a U. S. district judge denied xAI's request for an emergency injunction on August 2, 2026, allowing Minnesota's new law banning AI-generated nudification apps to take effect.
The company had filed a federal lawsuit in July 2026 challenging the statute, arguing it overreaches constitutional limits and imposes heavy penalties, as reported by The Guardian. Ars Technica noted that the suit came as xAI faced additional lawsuits over child sexual abuse material generated by its Grok tool. NBC News added that the judge scheduled a hearing on a possible preliminary injunction for August 19.
