NASA’s Swift Rescue Tug Spins Out of Control After Thruster Failure
NASA confirmed that the Katalyst LINK spacecraft, launched to boost the Swift Observatory, suffered reaction-wheel and thruster failures that left it spinning and communicating only intermittently. Katalyst had earlier reported thruster problems that caused the spacecraft to enter an uncontrolled spin, delaying the rescue mission. The agency and the contractor later said they were working to stabilize the vehicle and revise the capture plan.
