Johnson & Johnson reaches $5.5 billion talc settlement
Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay an estimated $5. 5 billion to settle about 76,000 ovarian-cancer claims linked to its talc products, pending approval by 95 % of claimants.
The agreement, which requires the consent of a supermajority of claimants, is intended to end the long-running litigation over the company's talc. The settlement was disclosed in a recent announcement and is expected to resolve the extensive set of lawsuits that have been filed against the firm.
