Nationals assess trade-deadline deals after sending Curtis Mead to Red Sox
Federal Baseball reported that the Washington Nationals evaluated their trade-deadline acquisitions and departures, noting that the club sent infielder Curtis Mead, pitcher Luis Garcia Jr. and outfielder Foster Griffin to Boston and received several pitching prospects, with analysts assigning grades to each deal.
MLB Trade Rumors said the early-August deal sent left-handed pitcher Connelly Early from Boston to Washington in exchange for Mead, addressing roster needs for both clubs. Shortly after joining the Red Sox, Mead suffered a broken left wrist and was placed on the 10-day injured list, prompting Boston to consider additional in-field options ahead of the deadline, as The New York Times noted.
