Patriots showcase deep threats and pass rush in ninth practice
The New England Patriots held their ninth training-camp practice on July 22 at Gillette Stadium, where deep receivers Kayshon Boutte, A. J. Brown and Mack Hollins shone and the defensive-line pair Dre’Mont Jones and Elijah Ponder posted productive pass-rush numbers.
Earlier in camp, the first session featured a 40-yard reception by rookie Boutte, while the second practice highlighted solid pass-defense work. In the fourth practice Boutte scored a deep touchdown and quarterback Drake Maye contributed, and the fifth session saw rookie Kyle Williams and defensive tackle Eric Gregory stand out. Subsequent padded practices showcased Maye’s perfect passing performance and the team’s focus on red-zone drills, with rookie receivers making progress and the defensive line receiving increased reps.
