Patriots Emphasize Team Cohesion in 2026 Training Camp
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said the team will focus on collective performance and scheme refinement rather than individual development as the camp concluded on August 1. The comment came after the Patriots completed their fifth practice, the first full-pad session, which highlighted progress for quarterback Drake Maye’s receivers, the offensive line and defensive edge. Earlier in camp, the squad held a zone-run installation on July 25, conducted low-intensity walkthroughs on the third and fourth days, and released a projected 53-man roster outlining expected starters and depth players.
The low-intensity sessions featured full roster attendance, with rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez participating for the first time and several players continuing rehab work. The walkthroughs also spotlighted running back Lan Larison as a potential third-string option and showcased competition among wide receivers and tight ends for roster spots.
