Bodycam footage shows former NFL quarterback Tony Romo's DUI arrest
Body-camera video released by a media outlet captures former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's traffic stop, field-sobriety test and subsequent arrest on a highway bridge.
Body-camera video obtained by a media outlet shows former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS analyst Tony Romo being stopped on a busy highway bridge and later arrested. In the first clip, a deputy informs Romo that he must submit to a field-sobriety test. Romo repeatedly asks to contact a lawyer, but the officer says he cannot do so. After the deputy calls for additional assistance, Romo agrees to be moved to a level area for the test.
The second video records Romo performing the field-sobriety test while barefoot. When asked if he understands the instructions for a heel-to-toe walk, Romo replies, "No, I don’t. There’s too many," and mentions two prior back surgeries. He struggles with the walking exercise, landing his heel far ahead of his toe, and later hesitates before choosing a leg for a balance test, using his arms for support. The deputy ends the test and asks whether Romo will submit to a breath test. Romo declines, citing legal advice, and asks if he passed the test. The deputy responds, "Turn around," after which Romo says he did not pass.
As the arrest proceeds, Romo requests to make a phone call, citing a plane taking off, and is then informed that he is under arrest.
