Detroit Lions Show Defensive Dominance on Fourth Training Day
The Detroit Lions displayed defensive dominance during the fourth day of their 2026 training camp on August 2, after the camp began on July 22 in Detroit, Michigan, Pride of Detroit reported. The team excelled in red-zone drills and showed versatility in one-on-one matchups while outlining projected starting offensive and defensive lines and assessing roster battles. Earlier in the camp, the Lions identified projected starting linemen on both sides of the ball and noted that 20 defensive players were on the roster bubble, with competition across the line, linebacker, cornerback and safety positions.
Analysts highlighted linebacker Derrick Barnes, cornerback Ennis Rakestraw, and a restructured offensive line. The opening practice featured new player roles, injury updates and the absence of running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Day-one standouts were recognized on both offense and defense, and on the second day rookie right tackle Blake Miller earned first-team reps as defensive players recorded sacks and pressures while the offense installed base concepts.
