Apple to debut leasing program and raise Apple Music subscription fee

सारांश

Apple announced a new device leasing service with Klarna launching on July 28 and increased the monthly price of Apple Music to $11.99, alongside other price adjustments and upcoming product updates.

Apple and fintech firm Klarna will introduce an "Apple Upgrade" leasing program in the United States on July 28, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. The service will let customers finance most iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch models, offering 24-month terms for iPhones and watches and 36-month terms for iPads and Macs. Users can pay off a device early, upgrade before the term ends, or return the device after the lease period, and the existing iPhone Upgrade Program will be phased out.

Apple Music subscription fees have been raised to $11.99 per month across all tiers, a change that also affects Apple One bundles. The company also lifted iPhone prices in Japan by up to 11% and increased iCloud+ fees in eight countries.

Separately, Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to refresh its entire Mac lineup over the next two years, beginning this fall with an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and new iMac models. The refresh follows a period of strong Mac sales driven by demand for devices capable of handling AI workloads.

In software news, Apple released the fourth developer beta and second public beta of iOS 27, adding new settings, visual tweaks and a manual recovery mode that can be accessed without a computer. The beta also contains code referencing a future iPhone with multiple internal batteries, suggesting a foldable device may be in development.
