Actors Raise Concerns Over Roles and Production on 'Dutton Ranch'
Actor Ed Harris said he felt misled about the size of his role in the Paramount+ series “Dutton Ranch,” a Yellowstone spinoff, while co-star Cole Hauser later described production difficulties without creator Taylor Sheridan. Variety reported that Harris had been promised a main-character status but found his part reduced to a minor role. Fox News added that the actor considered leaving the series after the discrepancy became clear. The Hollywood Reporter noted his frustration and that he remained under contract for two more seasons despite the issue. He ultimately stayed on the show, keeping his contract.
Page Six later reported that Harris signed on for a second season of “Dutton Ranch,” confirming his continued involvement. In a separate interview, co-star Cole Hauser said filming was challenging because creator Taylor Sheridan was not present on set. Hauser explained that Sheridan’s absence made coordinating scenes and maintaining the series’ tone more difficult. He also referenced Harris’s earlier criticism of his role, linking the two issues as part of the production’s hurdles.
