Charlie Woods knocked out of U.S. Junior Amateur after playoff camera mishap
Seventeen-year-old Charlie Woods was eliminated from the U. S. Junior Amateur after a phone camera click disrupted his shot on the first playoff hole at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, CBS Sports reported. Bleacher Report noted that Woods began the tournament with a five-over 76 in the opening round, leaving him well outside the cut line.
He rebounded in the second round, posting an even-par 70 to finish the first 36 holes at five over par and earn a place in a 14-for-2 playoff for the final match-play berths, Golf Channel said. During the playoff, a sudden click from a phone camera on the first hole caused Woods to mishit his third shot, resulting in a bogey, CBS Sports reported. The bogey was enough to eliminate him from contention, and ESPN confirmed that the distraction ended his bid for match play.
