Los Angeles Prosecutors Secure Trial and Confirm Victim Not Pregnant in D4vd Murder Case
Los Angeles County prosecutors confirmed that 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was not pregnant and, after securing a trial date, said singer-songwriter David “D4vd” Burke will face trial on murder and continuous sexual abuse charges. Prosecutors first filed first-degree murder and child-abuse counts after alleging Burke killed the teen following a dispute. At a four-day preliminary hearing, they presented photographs of the dismembered body, more than a dozen air fresheners found in the suspect’s Tesla Model X, and material consistent with blood discovered on gym mats and flooring in his Hollywood Hills home.
Detectives also displayed text messages and explicit images from Burke’s phone that they say document a long-term sexual relationship, a discussion of pregnancy and an abortion, and threats made by the victim. Additional testimony linked the singer’s multimillion-dollar record deal to a financial motive for the killing.
