First responders testify about victims in Massachusetts triple-murder trial
Police and fire officials testified about the condition of the three children and their mother, who survived a suicide attempt, during the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy in Massachusetts, PBS reported. The case, which examines whether postpartum psychosis affected Clancy’s state of mind, has moved through several key stages. Jury selection began with a pool of 130 prospective jurors; after more than 250 were dismissed for emotional distress, an 18-person panel was finalized, according to AP News and the Boston Globe. Prosecutors said Clancy had planned the murders, while her defense argued she suffered postpartum psychosis, NBC Boston reported.
Patrick Clancy testified first, describing his estranged wife’s mental-health struggles before the killings, CNN reported. Jurors were shown a recorded 911 call that detailed the discovery of the children’s bodies, WBUR reported. A judge later ordered the jurors to walk through the Duxbury home where the murders occurred, WCVB reported.
