Thunder creates $323 million cap relief after three-team trade
The Oklahoma City Thunder completed a three-team trade that sent guard Lu Dort to the Atlanta Hawks and forward Zaccharie Risacher to the Dallas Mavericks, while the Thunder received three future second-round picks and rookie Ryan Nembhard. The deal, reported by NBA. com and Yahoo Sports, gave Atlanta the veteran guard and a young point guard, and gave Dallas the former No. 1 overall pick.
In return, Oklahoma City secured three second-round selections that will be used in upcoming drafts. Later, Thunder general manager Sam Presti said the move was motivated by salary-cap relief and reduced tax penalties, according to Hoops Rumors. Bleacher Report added that, after also trading Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe, the Thunder cleared roughly $323 million in cap space and tax savings for the upcoming season.
