Patrick Kane returns to Chicago Blackhawks on two-year deal after Connor Bedard’s extension
ABC7 Chicago reported that veteran forward Patrick Kane signed a two-year, $8 million contract to return to the Chicago Blackhawks, reuniting the last remaining member of the team’s three-cup core. Earlier in the offseason, the New York Times said the Blackhawks secured forward Connor Bedard on a five-year, $15 million-per-year extension that will keep him through the 2030-31 season. Bedard’s agent Don Meehan told the Chicago Sun-Times the young star would undergo shoulder surgery expected to sideline him for about four months.
After finalizing his own deal, Bedard told ESPN he hoped Kane would come back to Chicago as a free agent. The team’s signing of Kane, confirmed by both ABC7 and the New York Times, carries an $8 million cap hit for two seasons. Bleacher Report noted that the Blackhawks acknowledged a fan’s promise to get a tattoo if Kane returned.
