House Republicans Pass $95 B Budget Reconciliation Bill Funding Iran War and Voting Rules
House Republicans passed a $95 billion budget reconciliation package that funds the Iran war, provides farm assistance and incorporates voting-law provisions, as the chamber adjourned for a five-week summer recess. The measure, which bundles the SAVE America Act’s election-integrity provisions, cleared the House with a majority vote after Speaker Mike Johnson moved to embed the provisions in the bill. The House Budget Committee had earlier approved the plan by a 20-14 vote, and President Donald Trump urged members to support the package despite concerns about the lack of offsetting cuts.
Earlier proposals outlined $90 billion in new spending for defense, agriculture and election measures, and Pentagon officials met with House leaders seeking additional funds for the Iran conflict. Some Republicans expressed doubt about passing the third reconciliation bill before the recess, citing internal divisions and procedural hurdles.
